I’m always applying lip balm – always. It seems like not much helps to alleviate the problem of dry lips. That’s why I was SO happy to find Karite-Lips Shea Butter Vanilla Lip Balm at my Whole Foods Store (update – Whole Foods’ suppliers in the Southeast no longer carry this product as of 2013).
There’s a lot of lip balms out there, sure, but I find that anything with peppermint oil dries out my lips even faster – and apparently 80-90% of lip balms for sale feel the need to use peppermint! So this blissfully peppermint-free lip balm, with ultra thick shea butter, is truly moisturizing.
Karite-Lips is made by Mode de Vie, which has been making natural body care products since 1993. Apparently this lip balm was one of their first – I can see why it’s still around.
Karite Lips Shea Butter lip balm with vanilla is thick going on, but doesn’t feel greasy or heavy. It just feels like pure moisture getting to the lips. It lasts a long time – great for applying at night! – and has a very faint vanilla smell. In fact, it smells like going to the beach – with the rich fragrance of shea butter and cocoa seed butter.
The price is a little more than your average $2-3 lip balm – just a little over $8 – but it IS worth it, because you don’t have to apply it as often and it really gets the job done.
