Crystals for the Home: Healing Stone Decor

Can these crystals create a healthy home? Could be time to try this natural healing stone decor!

Can your home décor affect your health? That’s something that I have always been interested in. I truly believe that some items can make you feel bad (both physically and/or emotionally) and some are very beneficial to your mood and well being. When I started reading about crystals for the home, I was intrigued … and very skeptical. Using healing stone décor sounds a little ‘Woo Woo’ to me, but there’s always a lot of elements of nature that we really don’t understand, right?

When I was young, one of my Christmas presents was a handful of colorful semi-precious stones. I’ve always loved those stones. There is something about the variations of color and how a raw crystal can be polished into a smooth stone that’s shiny and a piece of art.

I still have those stones. They are in a lovely glass bottle and they used to be on my windowsill for years as a teenager. When it came time to move out of my parents house, that glass jar of semi-precious stones was one of the home décor items that I took with me. I still have it (it’s just currently in a storage room awaiting the time when I finally get a new house soon.)

I never thought of those stones as having any sort of healing properties. Then again, I never researched the topic. However, they always made me happy looking at them.

And that might be the key to how crystals in the home can be considered, by some, to be healing stone décor.

Crystal Bliss

I was sent the book Crystal Bliss by Devi Brown to review. I definitely was skeptical. Yet intrigued. And as much as I tried to keep putting off reading the book for fear of woo woo crystal talk, the more I was inexplicably drawn to start reading it.

And I have to say, I actually liked it.

Brown has a way of easily and lightheartedly conveying what crystals are thought to do, how to use them, and the ancient beliefs of using these elements of nature in your life.

That’s what really made sense to me. Crystals are a part of nature. They’re no different than the wood from trees, fiber from cotton plants, potted plants or bricks made of clay.

Yet, for some reason, using crystals to decorate your home has some sort of negative vibe.

If you’re a lover of all things natural and from nature, why would you turn your nose up at some of the most beautiful parts of nature?

In Crystal Bliss, Devi Brown has sections of easy-to-read chapters on using crystals for certain aspects of life. When I saw the Chapter on Crystals for a Happy Home, I knew that I wanted to start there.

Crystals for EMF Protection

One of the most intriguing things to me when reading Crystal Bliss was that some crystals (not all) are thought to help with EMF protection. EMF (Electrocmagnetic Field) radiation is a very real concern in today’s modern world.

Smoky Quartz

Electronic devices produce EMF radiation. But so do a lot of natural aspects of life, too, such as lightning. In fact, there’s a LOT of things in the world that have an electromagnetic field.

So what’s wrong with EMF?

We’re not sure about the long term effects of EMF fields and how they interact with the human body. (Want to know even more about EMF radiation? The World Health Organization (WHO) has great facts about EMF radiation.)

According to WHO, some people report immediate symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, anxiety and more when exposed to EMF at home.

So, it might be wise to really think about EMF protection in your home.

Staying as far away from electrical devices and phones as you can will help to reduce your exposure to EMF radiation in your home. We all know that’s not always possible, though.

What Crystals are Best for EMF Protection

According to Crystal Bliss, crystals for EMF protection include:

  • Smoky Quartz
  • Shungite
  • Hematite
  • Black Tourmaline
  • Lepidolite

How can crystals for your home protect you from EMF radiation? Devi Brown is very honest in telling readers that there are no scientific studies proving that crystals have healing properties. However, she shares that the scientific properties of certain types of crystals, such as piezoelectric “crystals in the quartz family that are naturally electrically charged and can produce a voltage when pressurized” can lead themselves to be natural protectors of EMF emissions.

Think it’s crazy? Well, salt lamps are thought to protect from EMF emissions, too. So if you believe that a salt lamp can offer EMF protection (and some companies actually promote that fact), then why can’t another type of crystal also protect for EMF radiation, too?

How to Use Crystals for EMF Protection

The easy and simple way to use crystals in your home to protect you and your family from EMF radiation is to purchase a small crystal mentioned above. Then place them near the electronics that you use the most.

Think about putting a small crystal near the TV. Or on your nightstand for when you’re on your mobile phone. Nestle one near the phone base for your wireless phone.

Crystals to Stop Clutter

In Crystal Bliss, Brown shares that smoky quartz is a crystal that can help you become more organized.

It’s a bold statement about adding a piece of crystal to your home, but Brown shares her reaction to bringing a shoebox-sized piece of smoky quartz into her living room:

….found myself unable to allow clutter to form anywhere in my home. I now declutter, donate, and toss out belongings about four times per year.

If bringing in a piece of crystal was the answer to decluttering, I think we’d all try it. So why aren’t we?

Who knows? Add a piece of smoky quartz to your home and see if you feel the need and desire to declutter without putting it off. Be sure to use my 30 Day Declutter Challenge for a Healthy Home when you get the urge to start decluttering!

Easy Ways to Add Crystals for the Home

Whether you already believe in the power of crystals for the home, or you just want to try it out and see, there are a variety of beautiful ways to add crystals to your home.

The easiest and most inexpensive way is to add a small piece of crystal to a shelf or end table.

Trust me, you’re going to be surprised to see how inexpensive crystals can be.

I’ve found that you can buy raw crystals for the home for less than $5. Seriously, it’s less than a cost of a fancy coffee drink.

Here are some great resources for smoky quartz for under $5:

Crystals are often cut into beautiful pieces of art that look like a statement piece for your home.

These beautiful pieces of nature can be displayed on a shelf, end table or on a display cube. Small ones can be tucked in drawers or under your pillow. Perhaps in your pocket or purse, too.

There are stunning works of art using gemstones, too. Consider these beautiful pieces which will wow your friends:

When you really want something unusual and beautiful, consider adding healing stone décor to your home with crystal door and drawer handles. Can you believe how beautiful all of these crystal drawer knobs are?

So, I want to know – have you had success with crystals? Or do you believe this part of nature can’t have healing properties in your home decor? Share your story below.

I too own Devi Browns book, Crystal Bliss. I refer to it often. Crystsl "woo-hoo" is an actual thing. But i too became a crystal lover as a teenager but kept it under wraps because of the woohoo.

Now i am much older, will keep that under wraps as well, and found myself faced with healing crystals suddenly about 5 yrs ago. What is there to do but, grasp and learn from them or, ignore it? My life has changed drastically and I'm so grateful for them.

Thank you for posting the links for where to get the crystals as well. Great article.

I really enjoyed this article and I absolutely love using crystals to purify my home. Amethyst is my favorite and here's an article about how to use it to rid your home of negativity for anyone interested: https://cosmiccuts.com/blogs/healing-stones-blog/how-to-remove-negative-energy-in-the-home-with-amethyst

That's pretty interesting. I've hear of healing stones but never really look into them much. Sounds a little like the salt lamps.

I know. The benefits of salt lamps are hard to believe, too. But there are so many people that swear by them. So I would be interested to see if crystals that aren't salt work just as well, too.
